What to Look for in a Local Mover
Whichever company you choose, this checklist helps you compare movers in Los Angeles fairly.
- A California license: Ask for the mover’s California license or permit number and confirm it before you book.
- A clear hourly rate: Know the hourly rate for your crew size and what it includes before moving day.
- A written estimate: Get your rate and any other charges in writing, and read it before you sign.
- The right crew size: A good mover asks about your furniture, boxes, stairs, and elevators, then recommends 2 or 3 movers based on your move.
- Recent reviews: Read recent reviews from customers in your area, especially for moves like yours.
- Local knowledge: A Valley-based crew knows the traffic, parking, and building rules in Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley.
- Protection for your belongings: Ask how furniture is wrapped and protected, and what valuation options are offered.
- Packing help if you need it: Check whether full or partial packing is available. See our packing and storage services.
- Easy to reach: Make sure you can actually get someone on the phone before and on moving day.
